  • 16.7 million forest acres under DNR control
  • 2 U.S. National Forests
  • 3 U.S. National Parks
  • 1,380 State Wildlife Management Areas
  • 19 State Trails
  • 5,593,000 total acres owned by the Mn DNR.
  •  A total of 5,717 campgrounds (public & private), with about 50 campgrounds in State Parks & Forests.

Did you know that?

  • Minnesota is home to over 1.2 million acres of habitat, from prairies and wetlands to forests and swamps.
  • There are about 1,000 resorts, and 500 lodges in the state, and there are a little over 100 Bed & Breakfasts in the State.
  • There are over 2,000 Hotel, Motels, Resorts, & Lodges in Minnesota.
  • $1.3 Billion Dollars was spent in 2001 on Outdoor Activities.
  • Ft. Snelling State Park, located near the MPLS airport, is the most visited state park.
  • There are 15,291 total lakes, and 11, 842  navigable lakes (with over 10 acres) in Minnesota.
